At Little Owls we work in line with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) All activities are planned in accordance with the EYFS. But also inline with the children’s interests. We often take the children’s lead with what they find interesting or they are engaged in. Every child is unique. They enjoy different learning styles, they develop at their own individual pace and all learn and respond to the world around them differently. Alongside the EYFS we support children within the characteristics of effective learning and areas of development. We ensure children can play and explore, learn actively and create and think critically. We encourage children to have a ‘can do’ attitude, develop and grow their own ideas and strategies, support them in bouncing back from adversity and to be proud of and enjoy their unique and individual achievements.
We are based in a beautiful cabin which has been purposely built for Little Owls. During the warmer days the cabin is open for free play into our garden. The garden holds a well equipped and imaginative mud and curiosity kitchen. We have climbing apparatus, car tracks, easels and tuff trays. We offer a range of arts and crafts; children can follow a guided activity or create their own masterpiece which they will be able to bring home to show you!
We are fortunate to be located close to so many wonderful opportunities for days out. We visit places such as Petworth Park, Winkworth Arboretum, Wisley, Knowle Park, Ramster Gardens, Witley Common, Thursley Boardwalk, Alice Holt, and Hogmoor weekly. In the summer months we visit the seaside and the Lavender fields.
We use an online system which as a parent you will have access to, where you can view updates on your child’s day. We also share photos with you each day and reports are shared termly tracking your child’s development and achievements.
